Due 01/21

(Assigned on 01/09, rubrics given on 01/12)

For this assignment students can choose to talk about their own house or their ideal house. Students must present to the class a description of the house along with having a visual for the students to see. See rubric for the breakdown of the points.

Description: In the description students must 1) tell the class where they live (i.e. a house, apartment, mansion, etc) and 2) describe their house or apartment (i.e. mi apartamento es rojo, grande, etc). Students must tell the class 3) which floor they live on, 4) what rooms are in their house and 5) give a description of the rooms (i.e. mi dormitorio es grande or mi bano es rojo). When describing the rooms 6) students need to tell us at least 5 pieces of furniture (in Spanish) that are in their rooms (i.e. tengo cuarto sillas en mi comedor). 7) Students must finally tell us what they favorite room is and 8) why (i.e. mi cuarto favorito esporque me gusta…).

Visual: Students must have a visual to show the class (i.e. a drawing, diorama, clay house or a house built out of legos) and the more creative you are the better. The visual must be large enough so the class can see it when you are presenting. The visual must match your description so if you say your bathroom is red then the visual must show a red bathroom. The visual must also include the 5 pieces of furniture you include in your description, for example if you say you have four chairs in your dining room, the visual must show four chairs in your dining room.

Suggestions for a good grade

  1. Speak in complete sentences at all times.
  2. Use a variety of adjectives (Don’t describe every room by its color, use your cognate sheet and other notes to find different descriptive words).
  3. Don’t wait until the last minute.
  4. Ask the teacher questions. Before you present, you can ask the teacher questions about how to say something or if something makes sense.
